Calm Sessions Tickets

These events are designed for children who benefit from visiting at a time when there is a calmer background sensory environment (for example, some autistic children and neurodiverse families).


We understand that the sensory experience at Brunel’s SS Great Britain can be challenging for some of our visitors. For these events, everything will be open as usual, but with some sensory adjustment.

During afternoon sessions, the ship is also open to visitors who have come earlier in the day and chosen to stay. Based on typical visitor numbers, this will not be many people. These visitors will be made aware of the Calm sensory afternoons when they book.


During early morning sessions, the site will only be open to those attending the calm sensory sessions.


There will be a welcome room by the entrance where you can see pictures of what is on board the ship, touch some objects which you will see again, and make a plan for your visit.


There will be a large sensory room beside the ship with calming lighting, bean bags and some quiet and sensory activities to think about life on a Victorian ship.


We have added timeslots to help manage capacities, however you will still be able to get on site if you are earlier or later than your alloted time.


Please ensure you choose the correct ticket type - if you have never been to Brunel's SS Great Britain before, please choose the appropriate number of paid-for, companion, or existing ticket holder tickets that best suit you. If you have a Golden Ticket you can use that for these Calm Sessions - please choose the exisiting ticket holder option and bring your Golden Ticket with you when you visit.
